80s Fashion Trends That Might Be Trending In 2017

The 80’s was a very interesting decade as far as fashion is concerned. Basically during the 80’s fashion era you could get away with wearing whatever you wanted.

MTV was introduced and people were very influenced by what musicians were wearing, especially Madonna and who could forget the 80s hair bands? Some of the things popular in the 80s are actually back on store shelves.Let’s take a look at some of the most popular fashion items that could’ve only come out of the 80’s.

1- Stretchy stirrup pants.

This is one fashion that I’m sure everybody hopes will never come back. These stretchy pants came in all kinds of colors and had stirrups that went  around your foot. Maybe they were made that way to help keep your socks in  place? Whatever it was, I think a lot of people are glad the stirrup pants craze is long gone.

2- Shoulder pads.

Women got very into shoulder pads. It was hard to find a top or suit outfit that didn’t have shoulder pads included. Shoulder pads probably did help to add definition to somebody who was a bit curvy, but I don’t think many women are reaching  for shoulder pads these days.

3- Big hairs.

While some women opted for  shorter do’s, the men turned to huge hair. Remember bands like Poison, Ratt and Motley Crue during that time? All band members had long hair full  of Aqua Net I’m sure. The bigger the hair was the better. Women were into  big hair too, but mostly their bangs. They’d try to get them as high as they possibly could.

4- Oversized shirts.

Many women in the 80s would wear large shirts that fell off their shoulder.

5- Miniskirts.

Over the years skirts have gotten shorter and shorter and the decade of the 80s was no exception. The skirts then were just long enough to cover the backside. They were usually coupled with tights and leg warmers and probably an oversized top as well.

6- Leg warmers.

Who can forget leg warmers? These were ultra hip in the 80s and seem to be making a comeback. I’m not sure what purpose they served, but I’m sure they did help to keep the      shins and ankles warm. They were available in all types and styles including some with bright colors and specs of glitter and shiny things.

7- Neon colors.

People were definitely not afraid to show their true colors. Clothing came in all kinds of different
neon colors including pink, green, yellow and orange. Everything from pants to tops to ponytails to socks came in bright neon’s.

During the 80’s, people were all about self-expression and individuality. Everybody wanted to stand out and look different than everybody else. People basically wore whatever they wanted to. It was pretty rare for people to wear matching outfits.

It was more like the crazier, the better and people weren’t afraid to get a little creative either. If you didn’t get to experience the gnarly fashions of the 80’s, you really missed out.

The 80’s ended up being a really fascinating era as far as fashion and style is concerned. In essence during the 80’s fashion era you could get away with wearing whatever you desired.

MTV was launched and people were extremely influenced by what music artists and bands were donning, in particular Madonna and who could forget the 80s hair bands
